2022 Sport Festival: Commissioner Denies Poor Welfare for Kogi Contingent, Attends Opening Ceremony

Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Idris Danjuma has debunked media reports alleging poor welfare for the state’s contingent at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State.

Musa who attended the opening ceremony of the 21st edition of the sports festival held at Steven Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, said promoters of the mischievous reports are “enemies of the New Direction government of Governor Yahaya Bello and sport ministry”.

The commissioner said he was in Asaba to lend support to Kogi State contingents, Team Kogi athletes and their technical handlers in order to motivate them for a better performance at the national fiesta.

He assured the athletes of the Gov. Bello-led government’s full support and commitment to their welfare, admonishing them to be focused, determined to make the state proud by winning laurels and exposing their exceptional talents to the world.

“I am here in Asaba to give you the support you need to excel in this tournament and to also spur you for the games. So, you have no reason to be enervated. I am not just here as a Commissioner but also as your friend with shared passion for sports,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the sport-loving Governor of Kogi State for supporting the state contingents with fund for the biennial event.

Hon. Musa Idris charged all athletes to be good ambassadors and show commitment toward winning medals for the state.
