2019: Kogi Assembly Aspirant Calls for Peaceful, Participatory Elections

Kogi State House of Assembly aspirant in the Okene 1 constituency, Alh. Usman Muhammed Nasir has advised those vying for elective positions against acrimony and smear campaign in the build up to the 2019 general
election.
While speaking at a gathering of his admirers over the weekend in his hometown, Nasir, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) urge all stakeholders to embrace peace and unity.
“We must endeavor to explore all the ingredients that build, sustain and consolidate peaceful co-existence and these must go beyond ordinary verbal expressions.
“Without peace, there will be no progress and when there is lack of progress, development is retarded and
our society will be subjected to untold suffering and hardship. I choose peace so should you,” he said.
The top aspirant called for level playing field for all those contesting for positions in the forthcoming elections in Kogi state.
He opines that everyone who has shown interest in contesting for a political position in an election must have had one or two reasons for seeking the mandates of the people. Therefore, allowing everyone to pursue his or her aspiration to a logical conclusion will promote peaceful electioneering processes and the electorates would have been given a better stand to nominate and subsequently elect the best out of many.
He further explained that the people of Okene 1 constituency have suffered setbacks in the scheme of things in Kogi State House of Assembly due to the wrong means of choosing a candidate that represent them.
The idea of hand pickingĀ  an unprepared candidates against the wishes of the people will always results to poor
representations, disconnects between the representative and the electorates, and non-protection of the collective interest of the people.
He called on the stakeholders of the All Progressives Party (APC) to ensure that credible and sell-able candidates are chosen to fly the flags of the party towards ensuring landslides winning at the 2019 general elections.
“I am very hopeful and very optimistic that I will deliver to my Okene 1 constituency their desired representations as the interest of my people will always remain my top priority if elected into the State House of Assembly in 2019.”
He called on Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello not to relent his efforts in transforming the live of Kogites, irrespective of their senatorial districts.
He pledged to initiate policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the people of his Okene 1constituency.
