2015: Wada, Audu Canvass for Peaceful Approach to Elections

The Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada has restated his administrations commitment towards ensuring that politics in the State is played without rancor and violence ahead the 2015 general elections.

Capt Wada stated this at the constituency briefing/commissioning of various community projects/empowerment programme of Hon. Micheal Folusho Daniel, Member Representing Mopamuro Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, held at Mopamuro LGA of Kogi State at the weekend.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said efforts that will ensure peaceful coexistence between political parties in the State remains the cardinal focus of his administration, said politics should be development and people oriented, and not for destruction.

The present administration in the state the Governor explained has worked within the recommendations of the think tank committee as enshrined in the blue prints recommendations of the government.

Within limited resources and amidst several other challenges, Capt Wada disclosed that the administration has repositioned the Agriculture and other sectors.

Similarly, the State the Governor noted has been made attractive for investors, disclosing that over fifteen reputable investors have signed Memoranda of understanding with the State Government, towards ensuring its agriculture and industrial revolution.

While he maintained that the challenges of governance for the administration has been challenging, he however said the administration has met the yearning and aspiration of the generality of the State in uplifting their living standard.

The governor assured of all form of partnership that will improve the living standard of the people and commended the efforts of the Assembly Member in raising the living standard of the people through his representation.

Capt Wada commended the legislator for carrying out projects that are in line with his administrations agenda, said the projects and empowerment scheme of the legislator will complement the efforts of his administration in the provision of quality education, potable water, electricity and improved health care delivery for the people.

While noting that the transformation agenda of the present administration requires collective responsibility of all irrespective of political divide, Capt Wada appealed to politicians from the State to close ranks for the good of the people.

Also speaking, Prince Abubakar Audu, former Governor of the State and chairman at the occasion, who had earlier gone round to commission projects embarked upon by Hon Micheal Folusho, pointed out that the legislator has eased the work of the All Progressive Congress ahead the 2015 general election in the State.

The former governor and leader of the APC in the State, disclosed that people are no longer interested in political parties as platforms but are more concerned about dividends of democracy accrued to them by their elected representative, described the projects embarked upon by the legislator as unbelievable in the history of the State.

Prince Audu commended the Capt Idris Wada’s administration for associating with politicians from other parties, urged politicians to stop politics of violence, killing and maiming, which he described was a thing of the past but to focus on issues of development.

While he praised the Lawmaker for his numerous projects, Prince Audu disclosed that the APC is proud of his quality representation.

The former governor commended the peaceful atmosphere the present administration has created that has allowed for inter party harmony and for politicians to work together.

Earlier in his welcome address,  Hon. Micheal Folusho Daniel, Member Representing Mopamuro Constituency in the State House of Assembly, said he was spurred to improve the lots of his people better than he met it, noting that his representation was geared towards service delivery and not for personal benefit.

Hon. Folusho said the gesture is a token of his appreciation to his people for the mandate given him to serve them, promised that he will strive to sustain the confidence the people repose on him.

The lawmaker listed the provision of computer skill centres in Amuro and Mopa, construction of lock up shops in odole, ileteju and electricity to communities in Amuro and Otafun as some of his modest achievements.

Other achievements the legislator noted include,provision of potable water and health centres Okohi.

Other achievements are, rehabilitation of road, donation of deep freezers, motorcycles and several buses for empowerment among others.

Highlights of the programme was the presentation of graduate certificates to ICT graduands and handing over of car keys to beneficiary of the seven vehicles the lawmaker give out by the representative of the State Governor.
