Electorates in Kogi State have called on the authorities concern to check the Independent National Electorate Commission, INEC on their complain that their Permanent Voters Cards, PVC have not been distributed even after 71% success have been recorded in distribution.

Those that made complain argued that the INEC had issued the cards to some section of people who are not INEC staff but they could not get PVCs.

Investigation by KOGIREPORTS has it that those electorates in local council may be denied vote at the general elections which is just 21 days from now.

Mr Andrew Sunday who decried the distribution process in Adavi Local Government noted that such unruly act can only be achieved with the support of INEC officials in the area just as he called on authorities concern to help check the act for the electorates not to be disenfranchised.

“Really its unfortunate that we had to meet somebody else before we collect our PVC, how can they direct us to some people to collect our PVC and they will be talking about big percentage of cards they have shared, we need to check it early enough, INEC should not relate with parties to share the PVC, this is a way to rig election and if they don’t correct it, we will not accept the result of elections in this area.

Suleiman Ahmed Ojonugwa from Ibaji Local Government also charged the people in the area to stage a protest to INEC office over the action to deny them to get their PVCs adding that the illegal process has shown the elections will not be free, fair and credible.

“They said 71% PVC have been shared in Kogi State but we are still waiting to get our cards, and they will tell us our cards have been shared, this is not acceptable, we are going to reject the results of elections here except they give us our cards, why would they asked us to get in touch with one useless man who is not INEC staff before we collect our PVC, we will soon go to their office and protest this.”

While reacting to the query, Ameh Matthew, the INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Kogi State said the commission was not aware of such but couldn’t deny it.

All efforts to reach Mr Matthew or the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Alhaji Halilu Pai proved abortive as their lines couldn’t go through.
