House of Representatives aspirant for Dekina/Bassa federal constituency, Comrade Johnson Musa has condemned the decision of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to sell off some State assets and properties to finance the N151 billion 2018 budget.
Musa, in a chat with newsmen on Tuesday, said the decision of Kogi state government is a declaration of war with the good people of the state.
“Why will a good thinking Governor, who says he is an accountant by profession, thinks of selling State Properties just to finance the 2018 budget? What will he sell in 2019? Maybe he will sell Lugard House to finance the budget of 2019.
“Governor Yahaya Bello should admit that he lacks ideas and humbly seek for wise counsel from Kogites who are versatile economists on ways and manners of coming out of the quagmire that has befallen the State in the last two years.
“How can a State who generates over 1 billion Naira monthly, as declared, and have been getting supports from Federal government and monthly allocations, think that the only way he can finance the budget is to sell off our assets?
“This is an indication to a declaration of war between the people and the government.
“We have rejected his plans and urge the good citizens of the State not to fold their alms and allow us been ridiculed.
I challenge the Governor and his team to jettison their pride and call for help. It is obvious that Mr Yahaya Bello needs help and we are ready to help him,” he said.
