The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI Network) in Kogi State, a network of youths committed to peace building, sustainable development and growth has launched her ‘Naija Votes’ campaign in Kogi State.
In a brief chat with some members of the Press, the Coordinator of the YALI Network, Kogi State, Eunice Emmanuel-Bagi said the basis of the NAIJA Votes campaign is backed by the need for young people to step up to play their part in ensuring that Nigeria continues to be a democratic leader.
She added that the NAIJA Votes campaign encourages Nigerian Youth to boost voter participation, promote voting with integrity, encourage truth and accuracy in information-sharing and inspire communities to reject violence.
Miss Emmanuel-Bagi explained that the community based campaign will be spread to community heads, religious leaders, youth groups, women and persons with disabilities in Omala, Ofu and Lokoja Local Government Areas in Kogi State.
The NAIJA Votes Campaign is supported by the US Embassy Abuja in collaboration with the Participation Initiative for Behavioral Change in Development (PIBCID), Hands Across Africa Development Initiative, Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD) and ActionAid Nigeria.
