House of representative aspirant, Comrade Johnson Musa has described the Yahaya Bello-led Kogi state government as a “disappointment” for the people of the state.
Johnson, who made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, alleged that people of the state have suffered so much hardship under Bello’s government in the last two years.
“Kogi people I thank you for the patience, tolerance and resilience as Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State reached two years today.
“For Kogites, the past two years has been chaotic indeed putting into cognizance the very messy situation and the deteriorating conditions of the state.
“What has become the concerns of passionate Kogites, particularly the political leaders of the state, is the gory state of affairs in the state and the merchandise of financial recklessness that has pervaded the state, particularly that the state is presently experiencing its awful movement since its creation,” he said.
Johnson said it is obvious for the past two years there is a vacuum of leadership in the state as the governor always look helpless and clueless while the state is at a stand still.
“For the past two years the reign of impunity, fraud, kidnapping, insecurity and assassinations has become the order of the day. The governor, instead of concentrating on good governance and people-oriented programmes, is busy chasing shadows. His choice of words is not going down well with the good people of Kogi state.
“Despite all these, the state government has engaged in financial recklessness, awarding contracts without tender and publication for public bidding. The renovation of the Kogi state House of Assembly Complex and the renovation of Lugard House and presidential lodge were awarded by Bello to his cronies without competition and a tender board constituted. These are multi million Naira contracts, yet treated as the private affairs of the Governor.
“Kogi state internal revenue service made above 11 billion as their cumulative for 2017, can Bello tell us what he has been using our monthly State internally generated revenue for? Can Bello point any project in Kogi State sponsored by tax payers money?
“I am personally worried by impunity and maladministration that has characterized the administration of Bello and his inability to adjust and learn the system for the past two years.
“For the past two years the people of Kogi state have being battling with kidnappers and armed robbery has taken over the major highways in the state. The civil servants are dying of different ailments resulting from hunger, due to the inability of the state Government to pay them their entitlements, backlog of areas and salaries.”
Comrade Johnson Musa asserted that Yahaya Bello’s scorecard for the past two years is not but failure in all ramifications and advise Bello not to conceive reelection plan.
