The Kogi State governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring sectional and tribal acrimony that have dogged the state for long become a thing of the past.
Bello solicited the people’s support for his incoming government to realise the collective destiny of the state.
“I will bridge the differences to pave way for one united Kogi State. At the end, I would have bequeathed the state with the best leadership,” he said in his acceptance speech while receiving the Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He stated that the foundation was laid, built and finished, adding that he was only coming to put roof on the building.
Bello promised a new direction for the state, saying it deserves better than its present status.
“This is your victory and it is my fervent prayer that in Kogi, we shall go very high and far, working together and strengthening each other to fulfill our collective destiny.
Bello said it is possible to build on the solid foundation already laid by the jewels of the chequered history of unity, peace and progress, assuring that his administration would from day one advocate for non-violent ways of attaining justice, peace, forgiveness and reconciliation, where ever nerves have been frayed.
