Women Affairs Commissioner Pays Tribute to Late Predecessor

The late and immediate past commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Patience Memuna Mameh has been described as a kind, loving and straight –forward person, whose milk of kindness was extended to women, orphans, the less privileged and persons with disabilities.

The current Commissioner, in-charge of the Ministry, Hajia Barikisu Begu Momoh made the remarks during a visit to the family of the deceased at Oforachi in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of the state recently.

She further stated that her death is a great loss to Kogi State and the nation at large, especially at the present political dispensation when women advocate for 35% affirmative action.

“According to her, human beings by nature are dust and unto dust they shall all” return and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.

Also speaking, the Director, Woman Affairs and Social Development in the ministry, Hajia Falilat Rasaq, described the late former commissioner as a loving woman whose priority was to put smiles on the faces of women, children and vulnerable people in the society.

She disclosed that late Mameh in her usual passion extended hands of fellowship to those infected by HIV/AIDS from her personal purse on monthly basis during her time, adding that she would be greatly missed by all.

Responding on behalf of the family, Chief Adaji Mameh the elder brother of the deceased, thanked Kogi State government and the entire staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs for standing by them at the moment of their grief.

He described his late sister as a star who performed beyond their expectation and implored the state not to forget her children.

In his own contribution, the husband of the late commissioner, Mr. Isa Edibo, described his wife as a dear wife and mother to all, adding that she would be greatly missed.
