Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has called on farmers across the state to embrace e-wallet programme of the federal government in order to benefit from subsidised farm inputs.

The governor stated this recently during a stakeholders workshop and flag-off of e-wallet programme for agricultural development and sustainability in Lokoja.

Wada said the federal government introduced e-wallet programme to make available  inputs usually dominated by middlemen which deprived the farmers access, adding that the Growth Enhancement Scheme, GES, has checked fertilizer diversion and scarcity.

He urged farmers to organise themselves into cluster groups, key into the e-wallet programme and work as a team for better productivity, saying that it will enhance growth and sustainable development in agriculture.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Femi Bolarin, said the workshop will make farmers digitally compliant so as to benefit from the services rendered by the state and federal governments, NGOs as well as the international community.

Also speaking, the coordinator of the programme, Bolaji Akinboro, stated that   the programme was to ensure that farmers across the country can access inputs.
