FG Applauds Gov Wada on Agric Transformation

The Federal Government has applauded the Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada for keying into agricultural transformation of the federal government as alternative to the oil.

The Managing Director of The Lower River Basin Development, Mrs Ada Chenge stated this in Lokoja when the Chairman of the Board led by Christy Silas signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on Irrigation Programme.
According to her, food security is the main focus of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda saying that they federal government is happy that Kogi state has taken giant step in cancer elated Rice project.
She mentioned that 500 hectare of land at Ejule Ojeba in Ibaji and another 500 hectare of land in Oguma in Bassa has been given to the state government for rice production.
She stressed that they were happy with Captain Idris Wada’s administration for his Green Revolution.
While responding, Captain Idris Wada said the utilization of Ejule Ojebe and Oguma Irrigation sites will boost the economy of the state Ashe mentioned that he was happy that the Lower River Basin is partnering with the state agric transformation towards rice process to creat employment and carter for the food sufficiency.
He said that 4,000 hectares of land had been used for the rice farming in the state saying that 7 local government councils were selected for the rice project.
