Governor Idris Wada has challenged Kogi Elders to prove its bribery allegation against his government.
A statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy Jacob Edi yesterday in Lokoja said it is wrong for the group to attempt to rubbish the judiciary “for no just cause”.
He said it took years of painstaking efforts to build a solid judicial system, and that no one should debase the profession.
“We are giving the so called Elders 24 hours to bring forth their proof of the alleged bribe to the judiciary or retract the story without any delay. As elders, they should have their facts before going to press,” he said. Edi said the governor has demonstrated high level of transparency, accountability and probity in the management of the resources of the state since assumption of office 20 months ago.
He said the governor has enjoyed and is still enjoying the mandate freely given to him by the people of the state and does not need to bribe anyone including the judiciary.
