Ahead of 2019 general elections, fears of political intolerance and violence was reinforced in Adavi local government area of Kogi state when thugs allegedly loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the venue of Social Democrats Party (SDP) political meeting, dispersing the harmless women and setting their chairs on fire.
According to an unidentified member of the SDP Women Wing scheduled to hold a meeting at Alh. Badams’ compound, Inorere, Adavi local government area, the thugs stormed the venue and scared all members away by throwing stones at them.
She said they ran upstairs but the assailants kept stoning them.
According to her, the thugs dorning APC branded T-shirts burnt chairs arranged for their meeting and destroyed their banners.
The women are supporters of the female senatorial candidate of SDP for Kogi Central Barr. Natasha Akpoti.
