My attention has been called to a rejoinder written in reference to my widely accepted and publicized article; ‘Embracing Victor Alewo Adoji and Embracing True Development in Kogi East’, by one Abubakar Yusuf of the Sen. Atai Aidoko media team.
After reading through the malicious rejoinder, it was obvious to me that the rejoinder was not only a successful waste of ink and time, but a failed effort to polish an aspirant who has completely failed the people.
It was also clear that this aspirant who has succeeded in wasting away sixteen years in the hallowed chamber was seizing this slightest opportunity to continue his shifting of blames and as usual, pointing of accusing fingers at different persons.
This reminds me of the Igala proverb that says, when a lazy woman can not turn her food properly she pours the blame on the turning stick.
But for posterity sake I will take out little time to reply certain positions raised in the rejoinder, not only to make the people more aware of what I meant by a complete development in Kogi east if DR VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI is giving the senatorial seat, but to also remind us on the large need not to allow aspirants who are well known blame shifters and excuse givers to represent us.
Sen. Atai Aidoko has been in the Senate for almost seven years now,and up till the time of writing there is virtually nothing to trace back to him.
This is a seating senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, who receives constituency allocation,is in charge of a committee,a member of a committee and also has large influence across the nation.
Yet all of this have been allow to waste away beneath his seat for seven years.
The same senator who only comes home during elections, and hardly keep in touch with the people, even in their most helpless situations.
Sen. Atai Aidoko has never been there for the constituency he represents, right from the endless screening days, through the Fulani herdsmen attack and down to today where abject poverty has led to the death of so many persons across the constituency.
The media team was also quick to speak of his development strides, every one in Kogi east will agree with me that Sen. Atai Aidoko’s paternal and maternal villages does not have drinkable water.
In fact, the present Kogi state government is still planning on drilling a borehole there, with such failure in his own very home town, I need not tell any body what other communities across the constituency are going through.
There were also a paragraphs that spoke about Sen. Atai Aidoko being experience and I asked if what we have gotten from this aspirant in the last seven years are reasonable products of experience, because if this is what his media team call experience then we beg not to have such aspirant representing the constituency or any constituency across the nation.
It was a rub of shame on the face of the entire constituency some months back when the likes of distinguish Sen. Dino Melaye and Ogembe were on top of their voice strongly agitating for the declaration of Kogi state as an oil producing state and the senator representing the very constituency where this Oil is found is busy sleeping and even snoring as one journalist puts it.
And yet the media team tagged it experience.
I want to state it here that as a people we have become more conscious, we have become fully aware of our strength as electorates and such blind politics, that is completely deceitful, selfish, one-sided and built at the detriment of the people is no longer going to be accepted by the people.
And when I say the people,i also meant party members too.
Sen. Atai Aidoko has failed the people of Kogi East and there is no way we are going to pretend to this, and there is no amount of polishing that can ever erase this.
As regards the media team, I keep saying media teams should not always be self centered, rather media teams should always be in touch with the realities on ground.
Abubakar Yusuf who wrote on behalf of the media team, wrote in from Abuja, he does not know what the man at Agojoeju is going through, he has no knowledge of what the market woman at Imané is going through, he can not tell us what the farmer at Omala is going through,he does not even know what the young man at Ogbogbo is going through how then can he really speak for such people.
The Senator and his team must understand that a people oriented representation is not done from Abuja, it is done at home here, right in the midst of the people, informed and built on the acceptance of the people.
Which hijacking of party ticket for one’s self is a complete opposite of it.
I will end by saying I am a part of those supporting Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji because his political aspirations are built on the principles of development for all and this all, includes the common man. This is what I believe in, this is what politics is to me and I owe nobody an apology for it.
