Vessel FC of Egbe Lifts Leke Abejide’s Yagba Football Trophy

Elegba of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera kicked off the final match of Elder Leke Abejide’s football competition for clubs in Yagba Federal constituency on Saturday.
Vessel FC of Egbe edged out Success Star FC of Isanlu in pulsating encounter to lift the trophy.
The final match and closing ceremony of the football competition was witnessed by royal fathers, community leaders and sport enthusiasts across Yagba Federal constituency.
The football competition, an initiative of Elder Leke Abejide Foundation in conjunction with Kogi State Sport Council, started in Mopa on May 12. Football clubs in Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West local governments competed for the mouth-watering rewards.
In his opening address, Elder Leke Abejide Joseph said he introduced the football competition to create a platform for talent discovery among football talents in Yagba land.
He said the competition has helped to create harmonious relationship among youths in the area.
The House of Representatives hopeful informed the audience that he is ready to do more for Yagba land through  poverty eradication initiatives, youth and women empowerment programs, bursary awards, scholarships for indigent students among several others.
He pledged to support youths, children, windows, traditional fathers and religious groups in Yagba land.
For the competition, he donate huge amount for the first, 2nd, 3rd and the 4th positions., medals, golden boot, and the trophies.
He urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voters registeration to get the permanent voters card (PVC) because that is the “power to retain, dislodge and vote people into position of responsibility.
In his remarks, the Elegbe of Egbe land, HRH Oba Ayodele Irukera commended Abejide for the love he has for Yagba federal constituency.
He also urge all sons and daughters of Yagba federal constituency at home and in diaspora to emulate him and do more for Yagba federal constituency.
While leading the opening prayers at the final ceremony, the CEO of Iroko Int’l Ltd., Comrade Abdulnafiu Sule Iroko sought God’s favour for Abejide’s heart desires and the fulfillment of his dreams for Yagba land.
Triumphant Vessel Football Club of Egbe got a cash reward of N250,000 and a set of jersey for winning the trophy. The runners up, Success Star FC of Isanlu got N170,000 cash gift, the second position trophy and a set of jersey.
The 3rd position winner that emerged at the third place match at Oluyori Muslim Comprehensive High School, Isanlu on Thursday got N100,000 while 4th position went home with N50,000 cash.
The most outstanding player, best behaved team, best goal keeper, highest goal scorer and the best coach were also rewarded respectively.
Chief Kayode Timothy Katty, in his own remarks, said people like Elder Abejide who knows were the shoes pinches, are the right persons to run the affairs of government. He urge Yagba electorates to support Abejide’s aspirations to represent Yagba Federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
