6. Position: Media/PR Officer

The Media officer is a well-versed media practitioner who ensures the image of the organization is projected very well on print and electronic media. He is the face of the organization in maintaining and sustaining good will between the organization and its relations like the press, host community, trade association. He is a proactive staff that detect crisis situation or problem before it become emergency.

Duties

• Answer phone calls from journalists, responding to their questions
• Check the press office’s email inbox for media enquiries
• Write press releases
• Phone or email journalists to try to interest them in the organisation’s press releases and feature ideas
• Devise and produce proactive media campaigns
• Arrange for spokespeople to speak to the media
• Monitor media coverage and prepare regular evaluation reports
• Attend press conferences or interviews with the organisation’s spokespeople
• Advise senior staff members on written responses to the media
• Proof-read and if necessary, rewrite media statements
• Meet journalists and foster good relations with the media
• Write for and update the organisation’s social media pages
• Respond to the media during crisis PR events or negative incidents
• Occasionally be on call to deal with urgent media enquiries during evenings or weekends

Requirements

• Excellent written and spoken English. 
• Awareness of the media’s different audiences and sensitivity to how they are addressed, is important.

7. Position: Chief Legal Officer

Job Description

The Chief Legal Officer is the head lawyer to the institute who proactively ensures the institute operates within the ambit of the laws in all her operations. He is a legal researcher and member of the management whose is privy to all general and exclusive activities, meetings, records of the organization. He reviews all resolutions of all organs of the organization, press release as well contracts for procurement, staff, volunteers and consultants, to ensure conformity with IICOPOL goals, policies and extant laws

Duties

• Developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s matters
• Developing and leading internal audit and corporate compliance programs
• Overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities.
• Identify and monitor emerging legal developments and key concerns relating to various areas of legal services
• Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large
• Advising the Director General senior officers of the institute on a variety of issues
• Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the management
• Managing a team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department
• Conduct and oversee significant research into legal issues in various areas of legal services. 
• Write, edit, and finalize reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents

Supervision: 

• Cross check and ensure accuracy and sufficiency of legal advice etc. prepared by junior counsel prior to delivery to clients
• Monitor work flow of junior counsel
• Monitor on time delivery of legal services
• Conduct or ensuring training of newly hired employees
• Be able to step into leadership roles and assume responsibility as the need arises

Business Development:

• Supervising and monitoring issuance of invoices, payment of invoicing. 
• Approving and monitoring expenses to be incurred by Junior counsel

Policy development and implementation:

• Develop procedures and policy manuals from time to time
• Monitor compliance with policies and procedures. Ensure consistent application of policy across the organization, including by contributing to quality control functions
• Ensure maintenance of the firm’s policy database.

• Contributing to development of the organization’s strategic and operational plans;
• Drafting and/or editing relevant materials for publication; and

• Possession of First Degree in Law from a recognized university
• Possession at least 3 years’ post call-to-bar experience as a legal counsel

8. Position: Administrative Officer

Job Description

He is available to meet employees through good interpersonal skills and using all administrative resources to help resolve their problems or queries; may forward such to relevant channels where they can be addressed. He should be able to produce reports and make such available to the program manage and Executive Director as and when due. He deploy administrative skills and training to maintain office records and inventory of equipment in an easily retrievable manner.He is a responsible officer for administrative assistants, and proactively ensures request for office budget are made on time,approved, disbursed and accounted for.

Duties

• Act as a point of contact for all employees, through provision of administrative support and handling their queries (questions)
• Managing Office stocks -stationery, inventory of equipments
• Prepare regular and periodic reports of expenses and office budgets

Job Description

A Research Assistant works closely with the Research Officer to ensure all the select tasks for research are achieved. He conducts literature reviews, collects and analyzes data; work to ensure that the research community, population and the IICOPOL office have good relationship, through effective communication and adequate reporting. The Research Assistant is a focus person who ensures that the research standard, policies and ethics are observed.

Duties

• Conduct literature reviews
• Collect and analyze data
• Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
• Prepare and organize materials for journal for journal Committee review
• Prepare interview questions
• Recruit and/or interview subjects
• Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary

Job Description

A Training Assistant works closely with the Training Officer to achieve all the training goals. He undertakes physical organization of training events, including setting the venues, procuring and sourcing of logistics for training, as well as marketing of the training program.

Duties

• Shall create written and visual training materials used to guide trainees
• Shall create training course schedules and timetable

Job Description

The Head of Utility Services ensures maintenance and good functions of organization property, through routine checks, and responding to complaints. He/she will mobilize artisans and consult professionals, on approval, with a view to get optimal benefits from the equipment, vehicles, buildings, power generators, premises etc. of the institute.

Duties

• Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation. 
• Carrying out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.

• Inspect all completed projects to ensure they meet the organizational needs for use
• Ensure maintenance and repairs are brought out before commencement of such work
• Shall maintain clean areas

Job Description

The Chief Catering Officer mobilizes human and material resources to meet the feeding requests of the institute. She works within a given budget to source the most affordable human and material resources to meet the catering needs of the institute without compromising qualities.

Duties

• Shall be responsible for planning, administering and supervising an organisation’s catering operations and services.
• Shall lead teams of chefs and catering assistants. 
• Shall be responsible for running the day-to-day catering needs of the operations and services within and outside the organizational premises
• Shall be responsible for monitoring the quality of the food and service and for making sure that their outlets perform well.
• Achieving good quality within a budget and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction. Typical activities include:
• Planning menus in consultation with chefs
• Ordering supplies

22. Position: Information Technology Specialist

Job Description

The Information Technology Specialist is the chief internet and information technology officer of the institute. He/she provides this leadership by providing security to the organization data, secure the website and all networks from cyber-attack and external monitoring; custom design of soft-wares; building capacity of the institute staff in Information Technology.

Duties

• Shall design, operate, repair or maintain technology products. 
• Network management, software development and database administration. 
• IT specialists may also provide technical support to a business or an organization’s employees and train non-technical workers on the business’s information systems. 
• Shall design systems and assess the effectiveness of technology resources already in use or new systems that are being implemented. 
• Shall determine the practicality of changes and modification of systems.
• IT specialists will also work with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors, to arrive at the most appropriate system or integration of multiple systems. 
• Shall be responsible for IT Assistants, volunteers and interns
• Shall be responsible to Director of Administration and General Services

Requirements & Qualifications

• With information technology constantly changing, specialists must stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and the potential effectiveness of these advancements in their current system.
• The person is expected to have a firm grasp of several programming languages, as well as experience dealing with a range of software and hardware types.
• A minimum of BSC, HND in Computer science, Information science or Technology, engineering, and operation research or equivalent from recognized University or Polytechnic with minimum of 2.2 or Upper Credit respectively with at least 4 years cognate experience
Professional optional Certifications: Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, Certified IT Specialist -at least one of the qualifications is a must.

23. Position: Chief Security Officer (CSO)

Duties

Shall be responsible for enhancing and improving physical security and, increasingly, IT security.
– Shall identify organizational protection goals and objectives, ensuring they’re consistent with their organizations’ strategic plans.
– Part of a CSO’s job is to work with other executives to decide on the priority of security needs and then spend according to an organization’s financial constraints and directives.
 -CSOs also oversee a network of security directors, managers and staff and work with local, state and federal law enforcement and other security agencies.
-Shall carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Manning specifications

-Shall posses a good honor first degree or equivalent in any of sociology, psychology, criminology or related field  from recognized institutions.
-Shall have significant security experiences from any if the public service security agencies in Nigeria. 
-Shall posses verse knowledge in cyber security.
-Must be sound in MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Must be very sound and fluent in written and spoken English language communication respectivelyt least 7 years cognate experience, two of which must have been spent in similar position.
-Must not be more than 55 years as at the time of writing this application.
-Membership of professional body an advantageA retired police officer at least of Deputy Suprintedent of Police rank, who may have meritoriously served as Divisional Police Officer and Divisional Crime Officer during his/her career might also be considered.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the establishment of International Institute of Community Policing (IICOPOL) as a Company Limited by Guarantee in Nigeria with Professor Femi Odekunle of the Presidential Committee on Anti-Corruption Abuja as the Chair of Board of Directors and Professor Alice Hills of the University of Durham United Kingdom as the Chair of Advisory Board. The aims and objectives for which the (IICOPOL) is set up to be a lead- global resource Centre of excellence for effective community policing, and security strategies. Its aims and objective shall therefore be the following: –
 (i) To provide a forum for the mutual exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas on community policing and experiences among members, other institutions, Governmental Departments in Nigeria and other part of the world; 
 (ii) To pursue, maintain and promote the security, peace and well-beings of the people of the world.
 (iii) Expands the frontiers of knowledge of community policing through researches, training, advocacy, seminars, workshops, conferences, colloquia, symposia, exhibitions, and press releases in both print and electronic media.
 (iv) Review of policing policies in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
 (v) Research funding and scholarship support in community policing.
 (vi) Synergy of efforts of stakeholders through dialogue and establishment of participatory mechanisms.
 (vii) To collaborate with National Government at all levels, bilateral and multilateral or organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, Civil Society Organizations public-spirited individual and expert of community policing.
 (viii) To work towards ending globally, all forms of violent agitations, especially terrorism.
