The Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman, has joined his former colleagues and students in the Department of Political Science, Kogi State University, Anyigba, in mourning a colleague, Dr S.O. Alege, who passed on suddenly in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Acting Rector said he was shocked and shaken by the demise of a man who has not only lived a quiet, unassuming and simple life, but also a life clearly devoted to imparting knowledge and the growth of academic as a whole.
Dr Usman said he is much troubled by the fact the deceased was hale and hearty when he along with other members of staff in the Department came to show him solidarity on Thursday last week in respect of his appointment as Acting Rector.
He therefore, extends his deepest commiseration to the Vice Chancellor, Professor M.S. Tenuche, the Head of Department, Dr S.S. Avidime, the rest of his colleagues and students in the Department on the untimely, shocking and irreparable loss.
He also extends his condolences to the wife, children and relatives of the deceased, and urged them to be consoled by the fact their departed beloved lived a good life and left behind a legacy of exemplary personal and professional conduct.
He prays God to grant the Department of Political Science, Kogi State University, family and well wishers of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
