The House of Representatives candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Dekina-Bassa federal constituency, Usman Austin Okai, has called for cancellation of results of Saturday’s election in the constituency.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Okai called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to order a rerun in the federal constituency.
He said the call was premised on the widespread irregularities that marred the 2023 Presidential, Senate and House of Representative elections in most wards in Dekina Local Government Area on Saturday.
“The affected wards where All Progressive Congress (APC) thugs carted away and disrupted the voting process were: Odu one and two, Anyigba ward, Egume ward, Dekina ward, Oganenigu ward and Abocho ward.
“To make the matter worse, some Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff and Anyigba Police DPO supervised some groups of people thumb printing ballot papers for APC unhindered,” he said.
Okai rejected the “cooked results offline by APC without relationship with BVAS device input.”
He called on INEC, Kogi state, to suspend announcement of results in the affected areas until fresh elections is conducted.
