University of Jos Alumni Association Inaugurates Kogi State Chapter

University of Jos Alumni Association has inaugurated the Kogi State Chapter of the Association.
The inauguration ceremony which started with the Blood Donation Awareness Campaign in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Service on the 6th of May and Alumni royal reception by the Ohimege-Igu of  Koton Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isakoto,  in Koto came to a climax on the 7th, May 2016 in Lokoja, Kogi State where the state chapter was inaugurated by the National President of the Association, Mr Salau Momodu followed by the award conferment on some industrious and outstanding Alumnus.
In his opening speech, the Interim Chairman of the Association in kogi state, Hon Bayode Oladipo said the inauguration and the award ceremony became necessary due to overwhelming support of kogi members to the National body of the Alumni. He expressed satisfaction on the turnout of members at the occasion and urged others who have not register to do so.
Speaking at the occasion, the National President of the association said, of the 17th chapters that have been inaugurated so far, Kogi state chapter stands out best in terms of organisation, determination and the commitment shown by the members toward the inauguration ceremony. The Ohimege-Igu of Koton Karfi, HRM Abdulrazaq Isakoto who earlier hosts members of the Alumni at his palace in Koto where he received award as one of the outstanding Alumnus said, the chapter of the association in kogi state has already gain prominence before her inauguration. While thanking the Alumni for finding him worthy of the award, the Royal Father called on all graduates of university of Jos in kogi state to identify with the association, noting that there are lots to benefit being member of the association.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Hayward Mafuyai thanked the Kogi state chapter of the Alumni for their contribution to their Alma Mata, noting that notable kogites from the University of Jos have done the institution proud in their various field of endeavours. He said the University of Jos will continue to cooperate with the association for the benefit of members and the institution respectively.  Alumnus who were honoured at the event are the Ohimege-Igu of Koton Karfi HRM Abdulrazaq Isakoto, the Chief of Staff to Kogi State governor, Hon Edward Onoja, the Executive Director of Skyebank Plc Mr Idris Yakubu, Former commissioner for Health, Kogi State, Dr Idris Omede and Mr Inaju U Inaju of the United Nations. In their separate remarks, Hon Edward Onoja thanked the Alumni for finding him worthy of the award while urging all university of Jos graduates of kogi state origin and those residing in the state to identify with the association, noting that old friends form stronger ties than the new ones. Idris Yakubu whole earlier spoke on behalf of the association at the palace of the Ohimege-Igu in Koton Karfi thanked the association for the award conferred on him while promising his contribution and cooperation that will take the association higher in the country and beyond.
The Vice President of Unijos Alumni (North) Pastor Nuhu Solomon said Kogi as the 18th inaugurated chapter of Association will no doubt rise to the top due to the commitment, zeal and determination of members in kogi state.
He said the general conference of the Association when National Excos are elected is coming up in June, urging Kogi state Chapter to participate in full capacity.
According to the state Public relation Officer of the Association, Comr Onogwu Muhammed the event had in attendance the Ohimege-Igu of Koton Karif, HRM Abdulrasaq Isakoto, the representative of the state governor, Alh Yahaya Bello,  the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Prof Osagbemi Makonjuola, Prof Sunday Adewumi as guest lecturer, Dr Danladi Ali, Dr Mrs Apine, Mallam Hassan Umar, Regional Director Skye bank, Mr Osazuwa Igbinoba Regional Director Skye bank West, Mr Ishaka Abdulsalam, Area Manager Skye bank North Central, Mr Akintayo Akinade Compliance officer, Skye bank, National PRO of the Alumni Mr Adoration Dashit, Editor of Graphic Newspaper Mr Abel Ada Musa, head of NBTS Lokoja, Dr Alabi Uwodi, Mr Emmanuel Usman, Per Sec Local Government Service Commission, Mr and Mrs Edibo Okala, Barr Tobi Momoh, Mr Amobeda John, registrar College of Education Tech, Kabba and hosts of other eminent members of the Alumni.
Kogi state chapter was the chapter of University of Alumni inaugurated so far.
