Two hundred youths from the 21 local governments of Kogi State will be empowered to own their businesses.
Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Oloruntoba Kehinde spoke at the re-training of youths at NYSC Orientation Camp at Asaya, in Kabba, Kogi State.
The commissioner said Governor Yahaya Bello planned to take youths out of the street and make them employers.
Kogi State United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Focal Officer Otunba Aderibigbe Joseph Osasona, while presenting beneficiaries to the commissioner, said they were the most successful among those trained by UNDP.
They were trained on agro-processing, fisheries, poultry, rabbit and snail rearing, among others.
He described the youths as “dedicated, reliable and innovative”.
Commissioner for Youths and Sports Mrs Olayinka Olufunmilayo Arogbonlo encouraged the youth to be serious and diligent.
Representative of the Commissioner of Commerce and Industries, Mrs Rakiyak Yakubu, advised them to work as a team.
