Nigerian Institute of Architects Task Kogi Govt on Industrialisation

National President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Arch. Tonye Oliver Braide, has called on the Kogi State government to key into the industrialisation drive by providing an enabling environment to attract more industries especially in the area of architectural components.
Addressing professionals and stakeholders in building industry during the 2016 world architecture day celebration organised by the NIA Kogi State chapter in Lokoja, on Tuesday, Braide said presence of Ajaokuta steel company, West African Ceramics and Dangote cement had already made the state an industrial hub.
He maintained that if the state government can take the advantage of numerous mineral deposits in the state, noting that it is capable of bring stimulus for growth and architecture will rise to the challenge to build a modern Lokoja.
According to him “as a pristine location, Lokoja has the potential to develop 100 percent Green Neighbourhood. All buildings will be designed with energy efficiency considerations and some estates could be executed totally with renewable energy”
In his address, a former minister of state for health Arc. Gabriel Aduku wondered why Lokoja that had one time or the other served as nucleus of the country still remained undeveloped.
The former national president of NIA therefore called on the leadership of the state and professionals in viable fields to put heads together with a view gathered ideas that will develop the state in the interest of the people.
While lamenting that all efforts made by the former administrations to develop Lokoja failed, Aduku charged governor Yahaya Bello utilise the God-given opportunity to turn around the state for better.
