ULC Calls for Reconstruction of Okene-Ajaokuta-Anyigba Road

The United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC), Kogi state council has called on governments at state and federal levels to prioritize the reconstruction of Anyigba-Ajaokuta-Okene road.

In a statement signed by the state Chairman, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo, ULC bemoaned the deplorable state of the Ajaoukuta-Itobe portion of the federal road.

He added that the affected road is important as it serves as a gateway to northern and southern parts of the country.

“The United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC), Kogi state council have observed with regret, the deplorable state of the Ajaoukuta-Itobe portion of the Anyigba-Ajaokuta-Okene federal road which has traumatized travellers and commuters plying the road.

“The road is as important as other federal roads that are receiving the attention of the federal and state governments to the extent that it connects the federal capital territory, the south eastern part and some south south parts of the country. It also the connecting route of Kogi East to the state capital and the central part of the state.

“Also of interest is the location of the Ajaokuta steel company and the West Africa Ceramics industry along that route which contribute to the state internally generated revenue.

“We therefore call on federal and state government to commence the immediate reconstruction of that road as it has caused untold hardship on the people,” he said.
