U-15 National Team Hits Lokoja for Camping

The U-15 National Team, on Monday continued their preparations for the Eight-Nation Adidas U-15 Football Tournament (Mexico 2012), as players resumed at their camp, in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Media officer of the team Bunmi Haruna, revealed that all 26 invited players are already on ground and the team will be in camp for at least two weeks before they leave for Mexico on June 13.

Team coach, Danladi Nasidi said he hopes to retain 20 players for tournament, which commences on June 18 and end on June 24 in Mexico City.

“You know I retained 26 players from the old camp out of which I will pick a final 20 players as approved by the NFF, the first week of our training will focus on fitness, after which I’ll reduce the number of players in camp to 20 to focus on tactics.

“Our camping in Kogi will help keep us away from distraction which is usually associated with camping in Abuja, also, the facility in Kogi is a new one and it’s of world standard.

“Our target is to win the competition and produce good players for Nigeria that can graduate to the U-17, U-20, U-23 and then Super Eagles level in years to come,” said coach Danladi.

Only players born on January 1st, 1997 or after are eligible to participate in the tournament. Teams are expected to take care of their transportation to and from Mexico City.

Once in Mexico City, the organizers will be responsible for the accommodation, local transportation and logistics of delegation of up to 25 persons, for the duration of the tournament.

The Eight-Nation Adidas U-15 Football Tournament (Mexico 2012) which aims at bringing eight high-quality Adidas teams, from all Confederations, will feature Nigeria, Spain, Argentina, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark and host Mexico.
