Igala Vanguard has demanded an unreserved apology from Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, representing Kogi East, for defending political thugs that gruesomely burnt PDP woman leader in Ochadamu, Ofu local government area of Kogi State, late Mrs Acheju Salome Abuh in the wake of 2019 Kogi governorship election.

In a statement signed by Engr. Lawrence Akpa to mark the two years remembrance of Salome’s death and launch of a foundation in her honour, the group said Senator Isah’s response to the ugly Incidence on the floor of the red chamber as ‘retaliatory’ was uncomplimentary and unparliamentary, deserving public apology.

Akpa challenged both Kogi state and federal governments to hasten up the judicial process of bringing perpetrators of the dastardly act to book to avoid recurrence.

He accused both governments of shying away from the truth and playing politics with the day light murder of PDP woman leader.

“Aside unraveling the culprits and bringing them to book, the state and federal governments through the National Council of Women Societies of Nigeria (NCWS) are expected to design a program that will compensate, enlighten and educate Nigerians on the need to stop such awkward tendencies, not only towards women who are vulnerable, but even the menfolk all in the name of politics,” he said.

Akpa also accused the Ministry of Women Affairs under Paulen Tallen for looking away from the whole ugly issue because Mrs Acheju Abu is not an APC woman leader, “forgetting that whether APC, PDP, APGA death can come to anybody at any time.”

He urged the senator representing Kogi East, federal lawmakers and state Assembly members from Kogi East to work out a humane disposition and ensured the federal government immortalize late PDP woman leader.

He also called on the international communities, international women groups to rally round the families of the late political icon to ensure her immortalisation and constant remembrance to discourage such unpalatable situation in the national polity going forward.

Akpa expressed surprise at silent reactions of civil society organisations, non governmental organisation in Nigeria towards the plight of the families of the late political martyr.

He said the ghost of late Acheju Salome Abu will continue to haunt Kogi East Senator, Jibrin Isah Echocho over his unguarded statements a representative of the victim of political brigandage.
