Traditional Rulers Rise Against Insecurity in Kogi Central

Following the renewed spate of insecurity in Kogi State Central, Senatorial District, the Ohi of Okene, Chief Yakubu Yusuf has convened a meeting of his subjects to stem the tide.

While addressing the subjects of his domain, Chief Yusuf said Kogi Central has remained a peaceful enclave until recently. He said there was the dire need for peace to prevail in order to promote social and economic activities in the area.

The traditional ruler called on his subjects to monitor the activities of strangers in the area pointing out that with strict vigilance the area will be rid of criminals.

The issue of preachers on both sides of the religious divide was also raised at the meeting. A resolution that the activities of religious extremists should be checked was adopted.

The traditional ruler advised members of the community to always be vigilant on activities of people in their domain. He told them to be their brother’s keeper at all time.

On the forthcoming general elections, the traditional ruler called on his subjects to collect their permanent voters’ card. He also advised them to maintain peace during and after the general election.
