Current member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tijani Yusuf Damisa has won the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election.

The primary election churned out a mixed grill of shocking and expected results.

Damisa, who is vying for the Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal constituency seat in the green chamber for the third time was declared winner with 449 votes at the primary election which took place St. Andrew Primary School, Okene.

Hon. Ibrahim Musa OC polled 36 delegate votes, Mariam Ozuhu Ahmed got 34, Nasiru Bello  59 and Rufai Obatemi 15.

The results were announced by the returning officer, Mrs. Blessing Patrick.

The election was monitored by INEC officials amid tight security provided by the Kogi State Police command.

Anyone who has been following the politics of Okene since 1999 will observe that, for the first time, the primaries of the party represented the voice of the majority of the members.

It was not surprising because, prior to the contest, Damisa enjoyed the support of majority of the leaders of the party (APC) in Okene and Ogori-Magongo Local Government Areas.
