Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decried spate of post-election violence in Kogi state.

In a statement issued by a spokesperson of the party, Austin Okai Usman, the continuous bloodbath and post election attacks on the members of its party, after the killing of Mrs Salome Acheju Abu, has continued unabated.

Okai decried the recent attempt on the life of Salifu Agahiu in Abocho town, Biraidu district of Dekina local government area.

According to him, the victim of the recent post election attacks by the APC thugs became a target for his roles in mobilizing the electorate in Abocho to vote for the opposition party.

“Mr Agahiu was stabbed by the APC thugs on the orders of political appointees from the area who were been threatened of not retaining their positions in the coming administration, after collecting mobilisation fund but could not deliver their areas.

“This is coming at the backdrop of several attacks in the neighborhood of Abocho after the announcement of results of the election, that returned the Governor on Monday, November 18.

“His attackers have promised to go round the villages to launch attacks on individuals and groups responsible for the dismal performance of APC in the last election in the area, without restrictions.

“In their words, they have the backing of top government officials from Abocho area to unleash terror on the people of the area and the entire state,” he said.

PDP, however, appealed to the perpetrators of post election violence to cease fire so as not to turn some parts of the state to theatre of war.
