The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ilorin East/South federal constituency, Hon. AbdulQawiy Olododo, has said that sporting activities can be used to build mutual trust, understanding, and national unity in Nigeria.

Olododo made the assertion at this year’s edition of an annual table tennis competition held in Ilorin, where he was represented by his Senior Assistant, Comrade Mohammed Kamaldeen Aderibigbe Agbabiaka.

Speaking through his representative, the federal lawmaker candidate said sports have the power to dissolve long-standing enmity between rival groups and nations.

“It also erases hatred and long-time wars and misunderstandings among enemies,” he said.

He added that improving the welfare of citizens remains central to the APC’s agenda in Kwara State.

“Our party’s number one priority is the welfare of our citizens, and we love promoting everything that will make life better for our people, the people of Kwara,” he said.

Olododo further stated that the APC-led government had recorded significant achievements over the past seven years and urged residents to return all APC candidates to office in the coming elections.

“For more dividends of democracy, vote for all APC candidates in the state,” he said.

The event was attended by APC local government and ward chairmen across Kwara Central Senatorial District, with the table tennis competition itself forming the highlight of the occasion.

Also speaking at the event, the lawmaker representing Ilorin East state constituency, Hon. Mariam Aladi, commended the organisers and called for more of such events to be held in Kwara Central, noting that “sports brings happiness and joy to the people.”
