It is always said that history will tell on everyone either to the good side or bad side.

Today, in a date in history a phenomenon called Senator Smart Adeyemi was born, a native of Iyara Community in Ijumu LGA, Senator Smart Adeyemi was born on 18 August 1960. He earned a Post Graduate Diploma In Public Relations, Diploma in Law, Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication and a Masters in Public Administration from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and became a journalist. He was National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists from 1999 to 2006.

Senator Smart Adeymi days in NUJ was characterised financial probity, discipline and performance. Its on record that the senator gave a transparent account of the union before leaving office, a rare practice in the union history.

Senator Smart Adeyemi was elected to the Senate in April 2007 to represent West Kogi.On assuming his Senate seat he was appointed to committees on Privatization, Industry, Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs, Chairman, Federal Capital Territory and Appropriation. He was also appointed vice chairman of the Northern Senators Forum. Senator Smart Adeyemi was reelected on April, 2011.

The senator among others have executed a multi-billion projects across his constituency. In 2010, SSA multi-million transport scheme project was launched in Kabba, the senatorial headquarters. On 11th Sept, 2011 in Iyara township hall in Ijumu LG, the second face of his transport scheme was launched which also includes over 100motor vehicles and over 85 motorcycles.

Recently, on the 23rd Dec,2013 SSA presented and commissioned multi-million sophisticated medical equipment, locked-up shops, medical ambulances, jeeps and food items,in addition he also laid the foundation for a sports complex.

Senator Smart Adeyemi is known to have sponsored more than 20 people oriented bills. Its indeed a date with history, happy birthday to the peoples senator.
