Muktar Bello, popularly known as Senator, has urged the people of Kogi state to shun fake news and expect campaign based on performance, pedigree and dividends of democracy that this administration has been able to deliver to the nooks and crannies of the state.

Speaking with this reporter on Sunday in Okene, Muktar assured the electorate of campaigns that is mature, geared towards promoting the state’s ideals and values.

Mr Muktar who empowered over 1000 men and women across Kogi Central senatorial district late last year said with the performance of the Governor Yahaya Bello and the party, Kogi electorate will overwhelmingly endorse and vote for the governor come 2nd November 2019.

He urged to Kogites to ignore the fake news going round the social media and appealed to social media users to be responsible with the news they released on various social media platforms.

“Social media should be used to educate, enlighten, sensitise and mobilise the people for positive development and we should renounce the habit of spreading fake and false news because these only destroy the society rather than build it.

“The recent upsurge in unscrupulous rumours are emanating from desperate members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stir unnecessary controversy in the state. All these fake news are emanating from the PDP and Abuja based politicians.

“This is completely laughable. How can some people concoct a story that is entirely false, sending thousands of Kogites into frenzy over nothing? Gov Yahaya Bello have advantage over other aspirants in the APC,” he said.

Mr Muktar called on the electorate to intensify support for Gov Bello’s re-election bid and urge people of Kogi state to continue supporting the New Direction Administration with prayers.

He noted that the impressive performances of Gov Yahaya Bello in the past few years are enough campaign strategies needed to mobilise support for his re-election.
