The word “Sardauna” is a name traditionally turban to people (Leaders) like late Alhaji Yahaya Idris Abbas who have positive influence in the life of many other in Lokoja local government .The name connotes good act of leadership void of all forms of sentiments, bias mind,selfishness and pride.
Before now the mentioning of “Sardauna” in Lokoja is categorically meant for only one Man in the entire Kogi State, it’s known to be referred to a second republic politician who had written his name in the Marbles of life, Alhaji Yahaya Idris Abbas had penned down his indelible name in the ink (Sand) of time only because he positively affected thousands of people in Lokoja local government especially from the traditional areas of Lokoja.
For Alhaji Yahaya Idris Abbas, the title Sardauna of Lokoja was more valued than being a royal father or a governor.
The Lokoja traditional institution traditionally turbaned late Alhaji Yahaya idris Abbas with the “Sardauna” because of how he laid down his life for the common people, He sacrificed his entire life for those considered to be nothing and without a future and a bright destiny.
“Sardauna” means a Man with a passion of people, a lover of all men,a man who command people by what he does, a man who has sympathy for people he governs and a man who can die for the sake of people.
All these qualities was recently discovered on a man I call the gentleman administrator, the Talk And Do, the Social emancipator of the people of Lokoja local government,the giant with the strides of great achievements. Call him “Mr Project” or Shiru Na Allah, Dan Shiru, Dan Albarka.
Shiru, a replica exemplary leadership style of late Sardauna of Lokoja has proven to be imbibing the acts and threads of the late Sardauna by tirelessly working for the people of Lokoja local government with people oriented programs. Of recent times Lokoja became a leading centre of fast development capital by any visitor, where despite dwindling economy of the country, state and the local government, Hon Shiru Lawal judiciously uses the meager resources to better the life of Lokoja people.
This prudence attitude has enabled him to do what has not been done in the local government for many decades. Shiru Lawal has began to have people connected agenda and policies, under the “New Direction” lead by Gov Yahaya Bello. Despite short coming of revenue generation(IGR), he constantly devise means of initiating people’s oriented projects and programs.
He always reassures that Water, Education, Health care, human development, youths and women empowerment and all problems of LGs staff salaries will soon be a thing of the past as the government inherited a backlog administration issues.
Now the Conscientious voice of these people is looking at a good character personified in leadership, a performer and destiny reshape Personality. Now it’s glaring all eyes are seems to sight the hero son of the ward, the only twinkle giant star in the horizon of the ward, an eagle whose indelible records of achievements speaks of his calmness and style of leadership.
