Water is a necessity to life. Its usefulness in the life of man cannot be overemphasized. From domestic use which includes cooking, drinking, bathing, washing among others which by extension helps to boost our health and enhances healthy living.
It is on these aforementioned undeniable important value of water to the life of man that the Administrator of Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Shiru Lawal, knowing fully well the suffering and hardship experienced by any community that lacks water, speedily and swiftly responded to the call of the Obajana Community who despite the situation of Dangote Cement Factory there, has left the people in an unfold hardship as a result of the lack of water.
The Administrator who visited the people during a crisis between an Hausa boy and Ebira boy which resulted in the death of one of them to plead for calm and allowed peace to reign had the people shocked by his gesture and prime among other challenges presented was a request on the issue of water and the TALK and DO Administrator concerned about their plight promised them a borehole and that soon work would commenced.
Another youth Organization was in the Administrator’s office weeks after the visit to the community and the same issue of water was raised and he reiterated his commitment to the yearnings and aspiration of his people, saying no community would be left untouched.
He maintained that, Fela wouldn’t have said it better in his song when he said, “water e no get enemy.”
Surprisingly, barely few months after the appeal, a borehole is being provided the people to cushion their suffering in search of water. A move which definitely would bring a sigh of relief to the people.
He has also stated that other Wards in the Local Government like Ward C( close to Anguwan Hamza Mosque), Ward B behind Bookshop and Sarkin Noma Community would be among the next line of areas to benefit from the water project adding that in few days work on Ward C’s would start earnestly.
There is no gainsaying the fact that a responsive and responsible leader sees the concern of the people as a top priority in his agenda. And this the administrator has hugely demonstrated.
There is not doubt, the New Direction is here and working. All we need to do is support it with prayers and cooperation so that more dividend of democracy can be driven to all the nooks and crannies of the state and Lokoja Local Government in particular.
