The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cyber Security, Senator Yakubu Oseni has distanced himself from the list of Senators purportedly preparing to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The position of the lawmaker was made known in Lokoja on Sunday in a press statement signed by his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Abdulmumin Yusuf.
Alhaji Abdulmumin who noted that his principal was also shocked to discover his name on the unfortunate list which has been circulating across many online media platforms.
He urged members of the public, especially his constituents, to regard the news as another failed attempt by mischief makers to create division in the APC.
“Senator Yakubu Oseni is not an unstable politician that embraces jumping ship. He was elected on the platform of the APC and has no reason whatsoever to defect to any political party not even when his political benefactor and Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has entrenched himself as a formidable force to reckon with in the party.
“I am happy that the figments of the writer’s imagination was only circulated online without any mainstream media giving it undue prominence. Senator Oseni will continue to render service to his constituents and the APC (both state and national levels) to actualise the impending resounding victory for his party in the next year’s general election”, he said.
Senator Oseni admonished members of the public especially the youths to shun being agents of unfounded news propagation, noting that his constituency offices across the five local government areas of his constituency are always open for first-hand information about his activities at the National Assembly.
