By Solomon Ojotu, Abuja.
The Chairman, North Central Peoples Forum, Arc. (Chief) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku, OON, has described the consensus arrangement that led to the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the new national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a plus to the North Central people.
He made this disclosure Thursday while speaking to a cross section of journalists at the Forum’s head office in Abuja.
Arc. Aduku expressed joy that again, the North Central has risen to the occasion in their usual way of making unifying contributions to the democratization process and general stability of our country.
He said: “On behalf of the North Central Peoples Forum, I congratulate Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on his election as the new National Chairman of the APC in their just concluded national convention.
“His emergence is no doubt a validation of his continued steadfastness and patriotic predisposition to national cohesion and development. It’s also a confirmation of our all-time assertion that the North Central has been playing a pivotal role in advancing our democracy and the corporate existence of our country.”
Arc. Aduku used the occasion to appeal to the new chairman to preoccupy himself with thoughts and actions that have direct bearing on the development of the North Central people whom he said “have suffered untold hardship arising from gross marginalization in almost every administration in Nigeria.”
Arc. Aduku, a former minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Health, further expressed optimism that given the wealth of experience of the new APC Chairman; as a two-term governor of Nasarawa State and a senator among others, he would bring his towering political clout into bear in his current position to attract social and economic development to the people of North Central.
According to the veteran architect who is also the current Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), “as a non-partisan organization, NCPF would continue to give support to personalities and organizations that are committed to engender development of natural, human and material resources regardless of political affiliation, in order to uplift the general standard of living of the people of North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria.”
He therefore extended his congratulatory message to all the other sons and daughters of North Central extraction who got into one position or another at the APC national convention charging them to promote the interest of the people of the zone at all times.
