Kogi State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Idris Asiru has restated that the state government is owing cleared workers two months salary.
In a heated discourse on Kogi Decides platform on Saturday, Asiru explained that the raging controversy over upaid salaries in Kogi state is a minor issue.
“Salary issue is minor. What has solution is minor. The solution has come. I received this afternoon list of those with resolved issues. The monetary value is N1.1billion. God is in control. We shall get it done. If not now, we are not owing. And we are owing two months.
“Secondly, once they cleared civil servants at the screening committee its my responsibility to release money to Accountant General to pay all cleared civil servants. That we have been doing. I can’t pay anyone that was not cleared. Their is segregation of duties as a control,” he said.
However, in his reaction to Asiru’s position, Engineer Ajigi Mathew Olatunde stated that his wife was cleared and is still been owed 16 months salary.
Another commentator, Johnson Musa kicked against Asiru’s claims that Kogi workers are owed two months salary arrears.
“Another lies…Two months? That is why I said I am not interested in another lies. When last did you pay Assembly members? How can you say Kogi is owing two months? This is an insult on our people,” he raged.
