Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has congratulated His Royal Majesty Matthew Alaji Opaluwa on his coronation ceremony and presentation of staff of office to him as 83rd Atta of Igala Kingdom and President of the Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs.

The federal lawmaker, in a statement signed by him, extolled the virtues of the previous Attahs in the defence of their people, lobbying for developments and justice to all, as he expressed confidence of a great reign under the new Attah.

Rep. Halims, who is Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development, called on the Attah to play the role of father to all his subjects, including everyone in the state and not to allow himself to be used by self-centred persons who will want to use the revered stool cum the influence of the office to pursue inordinate desires, such as political aspiration and royal disputes.

“I plead with your Majesty to do everything possible to distance yourself from anything capable of tarnishing your exalted image.

“Make good use of your position to promote peace and unity in your domain and the state at large. I urge you to continue to play the important role in keeping peace and stability across the state,” he said.

The Rep member commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for allowing due process in the selection process and matching words with action as evident in his adherence to the recommendation of the king makers.

He noted that the new Attah is a man and popular choice of the people.

“This explains the reason for the exceptional jubilation and mirth that greeted Idah throughout the ceremony. These qualities form my conviction that his appointment is in tandem with the wishes and demands of the people of Igala land.”
