Our attention has been drawn to recent misleading claims made during a press briefing by a group styling itself as “Concerned Stakeholders of Lokoja LGA” over political developments in Lokoja Local Government Area.
Ordinarily, such politically motivated distortions would not deserve a response, but in the interest of truth and public enlightenment, we wish to clarify the facts.
Alfa Imam Ahmed’s Leadership Is Not in Dispute
At no point has the leadership of Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam Ahmed been rejected, challenged or undermined by genuine stakeholders of Lokoja LGA. He remains the duly recognized political leader of Lokoja LGA, and all party stakeholders continue to accord him the respect and support due his office.
Meeting Held at His Residence
Contrary to the false narrative being circulated, the gathering in question took place at the residence of Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam Ahmed himself, not at the residence of any other political leader.
This fact alone clearly disproves the baseless allegation that some persons acted outside his authority or attempted to undermine his leadership.
The Endorsement Was Aborted, Not Concluded
For the record, the purported endorsement of Hon. Ebaiya Shehu was never concluded, as the process was aborted before any final decision was reached.
It is therefore dishonest and mischievous for anyone to refer to it as a concluded endorsement or use it as a basis to accuse others of political sabotage.
Manufactured Crisis for Selfish Interests
It is obvious that certain individuals are deliberately twisting events and manufacturing crisis in a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant and create unnecessary tension within the party.
Their actions do not reflect the unity, maturity and democratic spirit expected of party faithful.
Appeal for Unity and Truth
We urge all aspirants and political actors to pursue their ambitions responsibly and refrain from spreading falsehoods capable of heating up the polity.
Lokoja APC must remain focused on unity, discipline and strategic consensus rather than divisive propaganda.
Conclusion
The facts remain clear:
Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam Ahmed is fully recognized as Lokoja LGA leader;
The meeting in question held at his residence;
The endorsement process was aborted and never concluded;
Claims of sabotage or disrespect to his leadership are entirely false.
We therefore call on the public to disregard the misinformation being spread by those bent on causing confusion for personal political gain.
