I read with surprise the excruciating excuses given by the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Center Lokoja.

Ordinary, I wouldn’t have responded because the unexpected has happened, Raphael is gone and the dead should rest in peace.

To whoever care to know, on no account will anyone expect the hospital to admit complicity in such a case especially as it involves death. No hospital have ever admitted such. However, the record must be properly straighten. No report could be more authentic and reliable than eye witness report.

The chief medical director was not the Doctor that handled the patient, he merely responded base on what he was fed with by the real accomplice.

Be that as it may, I will bluntly disclaim most of his claims in the statement he signed and released to the Media.

Mr Alabi erred by claiming that late Raphael James spent 6 days at the MRS Chari Maigumeri barracks lokoja before taken to FMC Lokoja. The fact of the matter is that, I took the decease to MRS Chari Maigumeri barracks on Monday 18 June 2018 after complaining of stomach pain.

Like earlier reported, that same day, same hour he was referred to FMC Lokoja for proper treatment. On getting to FMC, they were referred to Honey Gold clinic for scan still same day and the scan result indicated that the operation should not be delayed. This means the operation can still be done.

To those who lived in Kogi State, you will all agree with me that, Honey Gold is among the best ultrasound scanning center in the state, if the result shows rupture as claimed by the chief Medical Director, the Doctor would have confided in Mr Dele Olorunlogbon, the deceased’s uncle, when they spoke on telephone. So there is no truth in that statement.

Secondly, late Raphael scrutum didn’t swell from home. We started noticing that he is having swollen Scrutum when he was returned back to FMC from Honey Gold.

The swollen scrutum was not even immediate, it started after the doctors have pressed and pressed the area where he complained of pain. Again, this claim is false.

Throughout the time the decease stayed at FMC, the highest number of doctor I saw with him was just 2. Where did the CMD got four from? That is a clear indication that those half baked cosmetic and computer Doctors lied and the chief medical director complied in the spirit of espirit de corp.

In fact it got to a point, I went to the Doctors to ask them to come and attend to the decease who was in serious pain. The experience was horrible!

Now I ask again, a patient with scan result, why further pressing of the area of scrutiny? I may not have medical knowledge but ordinarily, the scan result should be strictly adhered to.

Again, why didn’t the CMD give details of the scan result in his statement? I will only agree with the CMD and FMC if only the scan result can be published.

Like I said earlier, I am still repeating it. Where are the consultants and experienced surgeons in FMC? The CMD should admit that they have two categories of staff in his hospital, the consultants and experienced Doctors who spent more quality time in their private hospital and Doctors who just finished service and left to alone with patients.

I want to state conclusively that, the family of the decease have moved on. Raphael is gone. But I want the general public to know that, no one should expect FMC to admit their lapses.

Testimonies abound of the services rendered at FMC Lokoja. The family have decided to stop further comment on the issue.

May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
