The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has distributed food items to Muslims and Christians across the district as part of efforts to support constituents during the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

The intervention, which targeted key groups including religious leaders, market women, women’s associations, youths, and civil society organisations (CSOs), forms part of the Senator’s ongoing efforts to provide relief and strengthen community resilience.

Speaking during the outreach, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was represented by her legislative aide, Alhaji Dr. Salami, emphasized the importance of inclusive leadership and shared responsibility in times of economic strain.

“This initiative is born out of my deep concern for the wellbeing of our people. At a time like this, leadership must be compassionate and responsive to the realities faced by families across our communities,” she said.

“We must continue to support one another regardless of religious or social differences. Whether Muslim or Christian, we are one people, and our collective strength lies in unity and mutual care.”

The Senator noted that the distribution of food items consisting of rice was designed to support vulnerable households and ease the burden on families.

“I remain committed not only to lawmaking but also to ensuring that the impact of governance is felt directly by the people. This is about service, empathy, and standing with my constituents at all times,” she added.

Beneficiaries drawn from across Kogi Central expressed appreciation for the timely gesture, describing it as both impactful and reassuring amid prevailing economic challenges.

A representative of the market women’s group commended the Senator’s outreach, noting that the support would go a long way in sustaining households and small-scale traders.

The initiative reinforces Senator Natasha’s reputation for grassroots engagement and people-centred representation, as she continues to combine legislative duties with direct humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the welfare of her constituents.
