The Deputy Governorship Candidate of Allied Peoples Movement in the November 2019 election in Kogi State, Princess ‘Layemi Joledo has concluded arrangements for the distribution of welfare packages to the elderly to cushion the effects of the hard times foisted on the world by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a press release made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday, distribution of food items will commence on Wednesday 23rd April, 2020 by 10am prompt under the auspices of POJA Development Center, the NGO of the politician and Princess of Mopaland.
The press statement affirmed that the focus of the welfare package on the elderly is a deliberate effort to give succour to a very vulnerable group at this critical pandemic period.
Princess ‘Layemi Joledo reiterated her commitment to the wellbeing of the elderly stating that the initial phase of the program will be implemented in Mopa-Muro Local Government Area with subsequent distributions scheduled for the other six local government areas in Kogi West.
She urged persons of means to reach out to the less privileged and vulnerable in the society especially at this time the country and entire world is being ravaged by Coronavirus with its attendant negative effects on economic activities.
She implored government at all levels to put in place the required infrastructure to combat Covid-19 while implementing proactive measures to reduce the hardship of the economic recession that will be a fallout of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
