PRESS STATEMENT

The Administrator of Okene Local government, Engr. (Mall) Abdulrazaq Muhammad have condemned in strong terms the gruesome murder of Mr Yusuf Adabenege and his driver by yet to be identified gunmen. The Administrator in a statement express shock and disbelieve, describing the the incident as coward and dastardly act by enemies of Ebiraland.

The Chairman said, Mr Yusuf was a gentle fellow with impeccable characters having large followership especially youths due to his philanthropist disposition and being one of the custodian of Ebira traditional Institutions.

The Local government boss therefore wish to condole with the families of Mr Yusuf Adabenege, his driver Musa, friends, associates and the entire Ebira nation over the unfortunate incidence.

In view of the present security situation and the available intelligent reports therefore, government have resolved as follows:

1. That the “EKUECHI” festivals and and other related cultural festivals or celebrations in Okene Local government are hereby put on hold till further notice.

2. All night activities, celebrations, gathering in any form and under any guise are by this notice placed on hold till further notice.

3. That government and security agencies have put machineries in motion to arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime wherever they may be and bring them to justice, therefore, government wish to plead with supporters and associates of the deceased to remain calm and be peaceful despite the pains, agony and emotional trauma they currently go through over the unfortunate incident.

4. The general public are advised to go about their normal and legitimate businesses but be vigilante and report any suspected persons or group to the nearest security agency.
