The attention of Kogi Youths for Atiku (KYA) has been drawn to trending news reports and quotes circulating on Nigeria’s blogosphere and some mainstream media organizations attributed to former Vice-President and Statesman, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in which he is reported to have slammed northerners for living in “mud houses” whilst their “Igbo counterparts rebuilt their region after the civil war.”
We wish to use this medium to ask the ever-committed and focused Arewa youths to disregard this blatant piece of smear campaign against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and treat it for what it is- just another in the long line of calculated attacks orchestrated by desperate political traducers towards reducing the high esteem in which the Turakin Adamawa is held by generality of Nigerians, especially his fellow northerners.
It does not behoves a man like Atiku Abubakar who owes to God and the nurturing care of northern Nigeria, his rise from humble beginning to the pinnacle of manifold Success in life to turn around and bite the proverbial fingers that fed him. It goes against all reasons and considerations.
Kogi Youths for Atiku wishes to call the attention of truth-seeking and objective Nigerians to the fact that this is not the first time Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is being innocently maligned by these traducers. We know that it was these same set of people who’d contrived and accused the Turakin Adamawa of numerous fictitious corruption allegations in the past. It is noteworthy that these characters who are quick to make spurious allegations have been slow to respond to the #AtikuChallenge, where Atiku Abubakar in a display of transparency rarely seen among politically exposed Nigerian elites, challenged on his social media platforms anyone with proof (s) of any corrupt act (s) committed by him while in government to come forth with evidence.
Joseph Goebbels, the infamous Nazi Propagandist once said: “if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”. These disciples of Goebbels have apparently taken this lesson to heart and will stop at nothing in their attempts to disparage the person and personality of Atiku Abubakar but this latest lie is one too many and we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
We call on Nigerians of northern extraction not to allow these insidious characters succeed in their latest campaign of calumny against this forthright man. Atiku Abubakar has nothing but love, warmth, affection, loyalty and adoration for the North and her people-as one would expect from a dutiful son to a beloved Mother. It is quite unfortunate that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s harmless remarks to Nigerian youths at a forum in Abuja have been taken out of context and used by the army of ‘Atiku bashers’ to score cheap political points in their bid to whittle down the universal love and respect which his humble mien and philanthropic disposition has endeared him to the beautiful people of northern Nigeria.
Kogi Youths remain resolute in our support for Atiku Abubakar and his vision of a just, free and egalitarian Nigeria where no State/Region has undue advantage over the others. Though the enemies of Truth continue daily to spread falsehoods about this detribalized Nigerian Statesman, it will all come to naught, their evil machinations and snide whisperings. Let them know that falsehood can only reign for a short turbulent time- Truth, like oil, will always float eternal in the water of Reason.
