Member representing Idah federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon David Idris Zacharias has called on Muslim faithful in the constituency to use the Ramadan period to pray for healing on Nigeria.
Zacharias in a Ramadam message signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Jeremiah Ocheme released in Abuja, encouraged his constituents to practice social distancing and other COVID-19 prevention measures as they observe the Holy month.
The statement added that the Holy Month of Ramadan which is starting this Friday, 24th April 2020 offers them an opportunity to cry to God in prayers on behalf of Nigerians which is currently in the corona virus distress.
Expressing his best wishes and noting that Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islamic faith, he said “The great Ramadan month is holy. A month of prayer and spirituality and all Muslims should strive to keep it so Holy.”
“This year’s Ramadan is happening at a time when the world is affected by the Coronavirus pandemic and practicing social distancing, staying at home and avoiding handshakes is key”
The lawmaker recalled that places of worship closed the world over, citing that Islamic teaching authorities have okayed prayer from home until the pandemic is eradicated, with a call for strict obedience to all constituted authorities.
Moreover, he said that Prophet Mohammed has taught about precaution measures in the event of a pandemic like Coronavirus, and we need to strictly practice it at this time.
Considering the harsh economic situation occasioned by the corona virus pandemic, lawmaker admonished the Muslims in the constituency to share their food items with each other no matter how little at the break of fast each day.
He wished them a spirit filled 2020 Ramadan and asked that they constantly remember him in prayers to enable him continue in his duty as a good representative of his people.
