House of Representatives member representing Idah/Igalamela-Odolu/Ofu/Ibaji Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Makoji Egwu (PDP) has called on members of his constituency and supporters of his party to remain calm, patient and focused  ahead of the February 23 rescheduled date for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The lawmaker made the statement while addressing supporters in Idah after news broke on the postponement of the elections.

In his reaction, Hon. Egwu stated that “The situation is regrettable. A lot of efforts were put into the campaigns and everyone was set for the elections; only for INEC to come up with a devastating decision to postpone the election in the middle of the night.

“But we must remain calm, peaceful and patient. Our supporters must remain focused and continue to remind our constituents that we have achieved so much and must work to ensure that all that we have achieved are not lost to the wrong hands.

“I hereby call on everyone not to allow the actions of INEC to deter or discourage us from coming out massively to vote for the PDP in all elections come Saturday”.

The federal lawmaker also called on INEC to do all that is necessary to ensure that the election holds on Saturday under an atmosphere that is peaceful, transparent and fair to all. He equally called on INEC to ensure that no sensitive electoral material is compromised due to the postponement of the elections.
