Poor Power Supply in Ankpa LG, SSA I Seeks Wada’s Assistance

Following the poor power situation in communities in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, the state governor, Captain Idris Wada has been called upon to assist in the area of transformers.

Alhaji Ibrahim Abagwu, the Senior Special Assistant I, made the passionate appeal in view of the hardship being faced by the people.

Alhaji Abagwu, who received in audience the top management of the power distribution outfit and youths from AngwaIgala, said the poor power situation in the area is negatively affecting socio-economic lives in the area.

The SSA I said the volume of megawatt that is transmitted to Ankpa is not serving the people because of the malfunctioning of the transformer in the area and remarked that the situation is becoming unbearable for his people.

He also disclosed that he has appealed to the district manager of energy Distribution Company to inspect the existing transformers in the area and intimate him on their level of performance.

The essence, he said is to ascertain the ones that are no longer functioning and see what could be done about the situation.

Earlier, the PHCN manager, Mr. John Onuwubu thanked the SSA I and intimated him that the power supply from Otukpo is not enough and almost all the transformers in the area are overloaded and could not meet the needs of the people.

Also, the leader of AngwuIgala youth, Jibrin Haliru, said they were in SSA’s office to complain on the non-availability of light in Ankpa Township.

Meanwhile, revenue collectors in Ankpa local government have been directed to remit all revenue collected daily to the appropriate quarters.

The SSA I, gave the directive in his office at Ankpa during a meeting with the revenue collectors, where he warned that any revenue collector who contravened the directive would be sanctioned.
