Confluence Queens Football Club of Lokoja on Wednesday booked their place in the 2014/15 Nigeria Women’s Federation Cup Round of 8 after a 4-3 penalties victory over Ibom Angels Football Club of Uyo.

The Wada Queens failed to take chances in the regulation time after the team had created lots of scoring opportunities that attracted applauds from the fans present at the Neros Stadium in Anambra State

However, the team came so close to scoring when a 61st minute penalty was awarded following a wrong timing by Ibom Angels’ goalkeeper Lucky Andy who hacked down goal bond Confluence Queens striker Lola Phillips in the box and got her matching order with a straight Red Card

Aluko Mariam hits the post from the spot-kick and the regulation time finished goalless despite the chances created by both teams who had a very impressive round of 16 performance at the Neros Stadium.

Ibom Angels got the advantage when Confluence Queens striker Aishat Bello lost the first spot-kick of the encounter in a sudden tensed penalties shootout but goalkeeper Bello Oluwaseun came to the rescue for the Wada Queens as she denied Ibom Angels two penalties from Celine Oitah and captain Victoria Aidelemon

The chief coach of Confluence Queens Suileman Adamu known as “ ZICO” as quoted by the club media officer Tosin Ojo, praised the fighting spirit of his girls and insists its not a done business yet

“ We had a very good game today, even though we failed to convert our chances. The regulation time result was never a reflection of our performance. I’m proud of the response from my players because we had a bad game last weekend at home. ”

“ Everyone of us is aware we have a target in this competition, and we must continue to work even harder to meet up with our targets. Am aware a lot need to be corrected after today’s game, especially, our finishing.” Zico said

Confluence Queens who successfully settled for a 4-3 penalty win, have booked the ticket to round of 8
