Polls: Senator Ogembe Charge INEC, Security Agents to Provide Level Playing Field for All

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, Ahmed Salau Ogembe has charged the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to create a level playing ground for all the political parties in order to have a free, fair and credible 2019 general elections.

The senator also assured the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, of landslide victory in Kogi Central and Kogi State as a whole.

He urged party supporters to be resolute in their support for the PDP.

The Senator also tasked the security agents to play their role without favour, saying the success of the forthcoming general elections depends on the conduct of the security agents, especially the police.

Addressing multitude of supporters of the People Democratic Party (PDP) during a tour of the district by Senator Ogembe and other candidates of the party to rejig  the political structure of the party ahead of February elections,  the lawmaker charged INEC being an unbiased umpire on matters of elections to ensure that political parties are treated equally  in the interest of the country.

“INEC should prepared for free,  fair and credible election by creating a level playing ground for all the political parties and their candidates to enable them showcase their popularity at the poll.

“The security agents have a significant roles to play in the attainment of peaceful elections and as such they should provide the needed security devoid of sentiment and favour.

“I am optimistic that with the exposure and experience of the new Inspector General of Police,  Mr Mohammed Ademu,  I am sure that things will be done in accordance to the law of the country,” Senator Ogembe noted.

While enumerating his performance at the national assembly in the last three years, the lawmaker said he was able to moved many bills and motions that has positive impacted on the lives of Nigerians.

According to him: “We have sunk over 60 motorised bore-holes, we provided solar street lights, we gave out scholarship to numerous indigent students,  we have empowered many youths and women all across the five local government areas that form the district.”

The Senator who said that he is seeking re-election to enable him consolidate on his achievements,  noted that education,  agriculture and continuous empowerment will be his priority if given the second mandate.

Speaking on violence and attack on the opposition parties, Senator Ogembe said “We in the PDP are not perturb by the attacks and intimidation of the ruling party in the district.

“Kogi Central belongs to all of us irrespective of religion and political affiliations, therefore no body can dissuade me from pursuing my political aspiration of bring development to the people of my constituency.

“No body has the monopoly of violence and we are equal to the task as far as 2019 general election is concern,  but I am appealing to the multitude of my supporters to go about their activities peacefully because PDP is a party that abhor violence.”

The House of Representatives candidates of the party in the district has also assured the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of massive votes from Kogi Central.

Hon Aloysius Adeiza Okino who spoke on behalf of the other candidates, said Kogi Central would vote massively for all the candidates of the PDP.

According to him the party is fielding credible candidates that will bring the needed developments to their various constituencies.
