Following the submission of Senator Dino Melaye and subsequent detention by the men of the Nigerian Police force on 23rd of April, 2018 at SARS Office, Abuja, a group of men of the Nigerian Police force reportedly invaded the Maitama residence of Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye on same day with a search warrant.
Although the reason for the search and what they were looking for was not stated, the police after a diligent search of the entire house came up with a report that nothing incriminating was found in the house.
Senator Dino Melaye who described as embarrassing a situation where a security outfit would search a building in the absence of the occupant.
“Though I see it as an embarrassment, I don’t know what they are actually looking for. Reason for the search and even a residence in the absence of the occupant is not clear. It appears there is something they were looking for, but since I have nothing to hide, I have never been found in any illegal or criminal dealings, I see it as an opportunity to further convince the security agents and Nigerians of my ignorance of the various planned allegations levied against me,” said Melaye.
