APC Clears Senators Adeyemi, Oseni, 15 Others for Kogi Governorship Primary Election

All the 17 governorship aspirants for Kogi state that appeared before the screening panels of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were cleared ahead of the primaries slated for next month.

The two screening panels cleared all the aspirants, except Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, who did not appear on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed November 11, 2023 for the conduct of the off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi state.

According to a source in the party who confided in The Nation reporter, the screening panels cleared all the aspirants that appeared before them.

Senators representing West and Central districts of the state, Smart Adeyemi and Yakubu Oseni were cleared to slug it out with 15 others for the party’s sole ticket.

Others cleared are the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja; the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Abdulkareem Asuku; Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka; son of the former Gov. Abubakar Audu, Prince Shauibu Abubakar Audu; former Executive Director, Rural Electrification Agency, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Momodu O. Deedat and Usman Ododo, Auditor General, Local Government.

Also cleared were Barr. Halima l. Alfa, Momoh Jibrin, Alh. Yusuf Yakubu Okala, Hon. Asiru Idris, Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, Abubakar Yahaya Achimugu, Idachaba Friday and David Adebanji Jimoh.
