Planned Sale of Legacy Assets by Gov. Bello Heartless, Criminal – Kogi Guber Aspirant

As reaction over a move to sell off Kogi state owned legacy assets by Governor Yahaya Bello lingers, a governorship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yakubu Yunusa Chado has described the action as criminal and heartless.
Alhaji Chado in a statement signed by self, said the excuse by the state government that the proceeds generated from the sell will fund the 2018 budget.
He said the state government who have so far collected several billions of Naira from the federation account, would have no excuse to mortgage the state even after he had collected loan running into several billions of naira.
The governor hopeful stressed that the listed assets have been enjoyed by the people of the state and as such selling them would be a great disservice to the people of the state.
“Evidently, the properties and investments proudly owned and enjoyed by the  State is about to be loose to the direction less government of Yahaya Bello who has been appeased by the  media for all the wrong reasons.
“It is wasteful to imagine Bello led administration want to Sale off in hurry a projects inherited by him from the previous administrations. Bello has added no value to the already existing projects and yet aplomb to destroying the pride and identity of the state.
“Budgets are not financed by proceeds from the sale of properties and investments made to better and promote the economic situation of the state, it is perfidy. Successive government borrowed to finance these projects, it’s mortifying the method direction less government plan to wrangle ways around our properties and investments,” he said.
While taking a swipe on the State Assembly for turning a deaf ear to the evil machination of the executive, Chado urged the state legislature to wake up and face their responsibilities as representatives of the people.
“I must urge the members of State Assembly not to befuddle in discharging their duties as assigned to them, history is about to be made. They must swiftly align in defense of all these properties and investments that is an identity of the State. Over the years, integrity of some of the members of the state Assembly is highly questioned.
“It takes courage yet a waltzes to stop this madness as your constituent awaits your return at the expiration of your tenure to account for your misdeeds. If he succeeds in this quest, we should expect the sales of hospitals, schools and other facilities to finance the 2019 budget.
“It is pervasive the approaches of the government in raising funds to finance budget that is certainly not in the best interest of the State. It took years of hard work and determination to acquire these properties and investments.”
He urged well meaning Kogites to be vigilant and stop the governor from his clandestine approach.
“We must be deftly in mobilizing ourselves against this unpopular act. As youths who are the leaders of modern today, concerted efforts needs to be taken within the laws of the land to end this ugly traits.
“Our numerical strength is a blessing from God, I  urge all the well meaning youths across the State to come out in forceful defense of the properties and investments by way of lawful protest to the State Assembly.
“Kogi State is founded by some patriotic leaders who history have recognized and appreciated over the years. Distinguished Senator Tunde Ogbeha has spent years developing the capital city of Lokoja, late Abubakar Audu, demonstrated heroic gesture in contributing his utmost quarter in the development of the State. Similarly, Alh. Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Wada have also proved their worth as Governors of Kogi State,” he added.
